The Newburg Wolves 4th grade team traveled to Dixon and played a good game against the Bulldogs. The game was tight throughout the night but the Wolves were able to win the game in the final inning 7-5.
The game began with the Bulldogs batting first and taking a two run lead after the top of the first inning. The Wolves were unable to score in the bottom of the first. That gave the Dixon boys a 2-0 lead after one inning.
Dixon was once again able to score two more runs in the top of second inning of batting. This gave them a 4-0 advantage going into the bottom half of the inning. The Wolves were able to respond with two runs of their own and bring the score to 4-2 after two innings.
The Dixon hitters were able to add another run in the top of third to increase their lead to 5-2 going into the bottom half. The pitching game began to struggle for the Bulldogs in the bottom half as they work through three pitchers. The Wolves were able to get five runs off walks in the bottom of the third inning. This gave them a 7-5 win as the time expired in the game.
The game between the Dixon and the Waynesville Redbirds 6th grade kids was rained out.
