The Dixon Bulldogs youth baseball team won another division title and completed their second perfect season in a row. The Bulldogs went 10-0 in Ozark League play.

All of the kids are from Dixon Elementary and have been playing together for at least three seasons. The team has had a unique set of challenges though as they are coached by Donnie Baker and his wife Angela. Donnie Baker had been coaching youth sports for over 10 years.

Head Bulldogs Coach D. Baker said this, “Angela has been battling stage 4 cancer for some time now. She loves the sport and all the kids. My team is definitely better in more ways than just athletic ability because of her” Baker also said this about the team, “It takes hard work to be number one. Never forget to thank the lord for the blessings he has given you.”

The Bulldogs are made up of 10 core players. Baker said this about the boys, “This group of boys do everything from birthdays to Mothers Day together and they are brothers.”

The boys are made up of John Creamer, Easton Hance, Leethan Edwards, Jace Bertoni, Rafe Baker, Cody Tollison, Owen McKinnon, Taylar Dodson, Kyler Houston and last but not least Parker Doyle.

Baker said this about is returning starters, “We have some players come and go. We will get beat on the field here and there. I am only sure of one thing, if these 10 boys stick together until high school and you add Hunter Albrecht, Eli Willis along with a few other boys in the same grade as my boys. We are talking about an awesome high school baseball team.”

Baker also had some new athletes this season as well. They were Joel Yoakum and Caden Kelly. Baker said this about the boys, “Both of these boys came a long way this season. I hope they stick it out and continue loving the sport.”

The youth Bulldogs will be moving up to the 5th and 6th grade division next year as well as move to a bigger field.

Baker said, “Developing a strong outfield is key to next years season.”
