The area has another option for basketball and now will offer traveling football.

Showtime Youth Sports had been playing traveling basketball for several years and  is adding football this fall. The group is run by Co-Presidents Cameron Blash and B.J. Ray. Comora Fowler helps the programs as their director of operations and Jennifer Brown is the treasurer of program.

This is the second year of the teams offering basketball and their first year of offering football for the kids. The cover all aged of kids from elementary to middle. The sixth grade girls were the winter league champs last year and the fourth grade basketball teams were the champions of the winter session at the courts. The fourth grade team also placed second in the Reebok Summer Classic against some bigger programs.

Ray said this when asked what he plans on doing with the team this year, “Continue to enhance on our fundamentals skills as basketball players. To continue to be a student of the game.”

The programs focus on building up the basic skills of the athletes. The football program will be no different as it will be ran by Kenneth Goins who is a Waynesville resident and  retired army veteran.
