The Crocker Lady Lions competed in their final summer tournament of the year before school starts in the next few weeks. The girls competed in the Tri-Lakes Shootout and went 3-7 over the three days.
Head Varsity Lady Lions Coach Rich Mueller said this about their summer program, “The main objective of our summer program is to get better. That is to get better individually and to get better as a team. We get better by identifying our strengths and weaknesses, playing games that put us in different situations that will help us later in the season and by bonding and building relationships.” He added this about the shootout, “While we were only 3-7 at camp, we were competitive in each game and could have won every game we lost. 3 of the 7 losses were in OT and 6 of the 7 losses were by 4 points or less. Our worst loss was by 7 points. Those are the types of games and situations that will help us later on down the line.”
The Lady Lions faced Plato twice and had two very close games. The other teams were from Arkansas or Southern Missouri.
As he is taking over the program, hte said this about what he is planning on at Crocker, “For me personally, getting to know the girls and developing relationships with them was the most important thing. I have learned a great deal about each of my players and feel confident in our ability to be one of the top teams in conference and district by the end of the season. It is going to take hard work but we have the heart and determination to do it.
The Lady Lions Junior High Program will play this fall begin in September while the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams will begin in October and November.
