Back to School Extravaganza

With the upcoming school year starting soon, the ARK Community and Sports Center is hosting a back to school extravaganza to help families prepare. The ARK Community and St. Robert First will be distributing a week’s worth of groceries for families, along with free a backpack giveaway. Set up will start around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11 and are expecting to start at 10 a.m. The event will also have free haircuts and other free giveaways. There will also be a bounce house and games for children to help make new friends before the school year starts. The event is free for families and volunteers are welcomed.

5K Fun Run

Get the blood pumping early on Saturday, Aug. 11 with a 5K starting at 8:00 a.m. The Fort Leonard Wood MWR is hosting a 5K for all ages and are welcoming fitness enthusiasts to join along. This is a non-competitive run and is a part of the 2018 5K Fun Run Race series. A children’s half miler will follow an hour later at 9 a.m. The MRW is also welcoming baby strollers, leashed dogs and children on bicycles (helmet needed). Pride Float

Cool off from the late summer heat and float down the river from Ruby’s Landing. At the 2018 Pride Float on Aug. 12, you can pay $25 dollars per person to rent supplies to leisure your way along the river. The event begins at 10 a.m. for early morning attendees to set their sails. If you’re looking for a way to relax on your Sunday off, then come out and support your local LGBTQ plus community.
