The Dixon School District has named Haley Ballard the new middle and high school cross country coach.

She had been the middle school head track coach for the last two years where she has won Frisco League Championships in both seasons. Ballard is also the girls assistant basketball coach.

Coach Ballard said this about what she brings to the program, “I am hoping to build upon in the program that Coach Brown already established. Hopefully I can add competitiveness and make kids see their potential. It's only about them giving their personal best everyday and pushing themselves to get better.”

Ballard had competed in track until her freshman year of high school where she still holds several school records. She also played basketball for the Dixon Bulldogs. She said this about transitioning to cross country, “Although I do not have specific cross country experience, I feel as though that can be learned and the other sports that I've participated in and coached has given me a solid foundation to build upon.”

Coach Ballard said this about what kind of athletes she is looking for, “Any kids that are willing to work hard and want to be a part of a team.” She also gave this bit of advice about coaching, “Coach to make a difference in a kid's life, no matter how big or small.”

The Bulldogs will open their cross country season on September 5th in Vienna and then travel to Linn on September 9th. The will then travel to Plato on September 17th where they will see most of the conference opponents for the first time. The Bulldogs will host their own meet at the Oak Hills Country Club on October 8th.
