August is active with community events. Here are some things to expect in Pulaski County this month.

Cub Scout Pack 202 is hosting a few events this month. Play and Splash will be August 11 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Tiger Typhoon. It is $5 to get in. Pack Registration Night for ages five to 10 will be on August 23. It will be at Waynesville United Methodist Church from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. They are hosting two free back to school dances from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The first one will be August 24 at East Elementary. The other one will be August 31 at Freedom Elementary.

The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary meets the fourth Tuesday of every month for their general membership meeting. The meetings are held at the American Legion in St. Robert on the outer road. The meetings start at 6 p.m.

The Turkey Shoot will be Saturday, August 18 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. It will be at the American Legion Post 240 in Richland. It will be $2 per round and there are 10 rounds.

The Frog Fitness Group will host their free 5K run, walk or bike. It will be on Saturday, August 18. This event begins at 8 a.m. at Walker Real Estate on Missouri Avenue. They host a race the third Saturday of every month.

Toddler Story Time will be Tuesday, August 14 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This event will be at the Bruce C. Clarke Library in Fort Leonard Wood. It is for children 18 months to 3 years old. Stories and simple crafts by ASYMCA.

S.T.E.A.M. Lab will be from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. August 16 at the Bruce C. Clarke Library. S.T.E.A.M. Lab is a place for children of all ages to come learn, play, build and create. Enjoy kits, projects and crafts that focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. You can join in the fun and interactive environment, where children can learn new things and fulfill their creativity and curiosity. This is a self-paced program and the children have the opportunity to work without time constraints or press of a particular goal. The STEAM Lab is free and open to the public and will take place the third Thursday of every month.

The First Impact Traffic Safety Program will be August 16 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Waynesville High School.

The 18th annual Know Your World Event will be August 24 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Nutter Field House. More than 70 international military officers from more than 40 countries will be presenting.

First Assembly of God will host the annual Back to School Extravaganza. It will be August 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event will be at The Ark Community & Sports Center in Waynesville. St. Robert First will be handing out a week’s worth of groceries during this event. Volunteers are appreciated. If you are coming to volunteer, please wear weather and church appropriate clothing, put on sunscreen and bug spray and bring water or Gatorade to stay hydrated. Set up starts at 8:30 a.m. The event starts at 10 a.m. Food and backpack giveaway starts at 12 p.m. Clean up is at 2 p.m.
