School doors are opening and activities are starting for the Waynesville R-VI School District and surrounding districts. Wednesday, August 6 was the 2d Annual WHS Freshman Transition Day and officials said freshman enrollment numbers at the high school were over 400 and more enrolling each day. Pictured are members of the Freshman Mentor Program — “FMP.” FMP is a newly developed program comprised of 83 upper class members who are linked with freshmen and will serve as mentors throughout the school year. Freshman had a busy day with a general assembly, tour and orientation of school, breakout sessions and a courtesy lunch.
