An early morning altercation Monday sent one man to the hospital after he was shot.

The St. Robert Police Department reports its officers and other surrounding agencies responded to a call of a male swinging a bottle at OB’s Billiards, 982 Old Route 66.

When officers responded, they were advised by the 9-1-1 Communication Center there had been shots fired, according to a press release from the St. Robert Police Department.

The victim of the shooting, who has not been identified, was taken to General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital, where he was treated for a gun shot to the abdomen.

The victim was reported to be out of surgery and recovering in the intensive care unit.

A suspect who was taken into custody has not been identified, pending the filing of formal charges of 1st Degree Assault.

Several other people were also taken into custody for questioning.
