A plane connected to last week’s $10.2 million drug seizure has been located by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).
Waynesville Police Chief Bob Carter said the aircraft was located in Arizona, and is thought to have been heading west toward California.
“The aircraft or plane in question that was transporting the drugs was located by DEA,” Carter said, noting he could not provide more information at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
Eighty-nine pounds of crystal meth and 99.6 pounds of cocaine were recovered Feb. 16 after a Waynesville Police officer conducting routine business security checks observed a suspicious vehicle at Witmor Farms.
Three people, including the driver of the vehicle carrying the drugs, have been arrested and are in DEA custody.
