Woman held on charge of statutory rape

A 22-year-old woman is being held in the Pulaski County Jail on one charge of statutory rape involving a 16-year-old teenager with developmental disabilities.

According to information provided by the Pulaski County Sheriff's office, Nyesha Robinson is being held on $100,000 bond in connection with an incident(s) that reportedly took place in November 2011 in Pulaski County. Robinson was arrested and charged on Jan. 21.

Sheriff JB King said the allegations involving the sexual assault were brought to the attention of officers during the course of an investigation into an alleged physical altercation between the victim and Robinson last week in Waynesville.

The alleged physical assault is being handled by the Waynesville Police Department. The allegations involving the sexual assault were turned over to the newly formed Pulaski County Special Victims Unit which is composed of reserve deputies and one assistant prosecutor for these cases. The sexual assaults allegedly took place in the county.

King said a reserve deputy met with the victim late last week. The alleged sexual assault that is reported to have taken place last year occurred when the victim was 15 years old.
