New park facility supervisor discusses area’s amenities

Betheny Martin will have a contributing hand in the future of St. Robert’s recreational opportunities. As the new park facilities supervisor, Martin will oversee current and new projects.

Betheny Martin is St. Robert’s new park facilities supervisor.  
She attended Missouri State University in Springfield where she received her bachelor of science in recreation and leisure studies, with an emphasis in community recreation and a minor in housing and interior design.
While in Springfield, she worked for the Ozark’s Regional YMCA as a program director overseeing youth, arts and climbing wall programs.
She currently lives in Rolla, with her soon-to-be husband.

Q What does your job as park facilities supervisor entail?
A As park facilities supervisor I oversee all parks in the city of St. Robert.
This includes maintenance, repairs, additions and all recreational programs such as Halloween in the Park and the Outdoorsman Show.
Once the new aquatic and community building is built, I will manage that facility.

Q What do you hope to accomplish as the park facilities supervisor?
A My hope is to create additional recreational opportunities and help develop great parks for the residents of this community to enjoy.

Q Do you have any plans for the future of the Parks Department?
A  I, along with the  park committee, have multiple plans to enrich the Parks Department and provide citizens with many more recreational prospects.

Q Are you enjoying your job so far?
A  I love working for the city of St. Robert. This is an amazing community and has a lot of opportunities. The city is dedicated to growth especially within the parks and I am excited to add and enhance recreational opportunities.

Q What brought you to St. Robert’s Park Department?
A When I saw that the city was looking for a park facilities supervisor I knew I wanted to work for St. Robert. This position requires a passion and drive for parks and recreation, which I cannot wait to share with the community.

Q What do you think of the current recreational opportunities of St. Robert?
A  I am thrilled about the current opportunities and cannot wait to offer more recreational events for the area.

Q Have you been a park facilities supervisor before?
A This will be my first time overseeing city parks, but I am familiar with maintenance of facilities and development of programs.

Q Why were you attracted to this job?
A The park facilities supervisor position originally attracted me because of the wonderful potential the city of St. Robert offers.
The city has done an amazing job in the past three years with the development of their parks and I jumped at the chance to be a part of the recreational growth for the community.
