Airmen from the 509th and 131st Bomb Wings proudly display the fruits of their labor at the Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana.  Members from both wings joined together to compete against other Air Force Global Strike Command and Air Combat Command Wings in the first Global Strike Challenge.  The challenge took place over seven months with several competitions to show who is the "Best of the Best."  Team Whiteman came home with more than 15 group and individual awards including the new Tibbets Trophy for Best B-2 Operations Squadron and the Fairchild Trophy for Best Bomb Wing. This is the fifth time the 509th has won the Fairchild Trophy, four times previously in the Strategic Air Command Bombing and Navigation Competition.
