Fort Leonard Wood Soldiers of “Team Sapper” will begin the next step in the challenge of “Battle of the Builds.” beginning today.
Toyota will present Team Sapper with a 2011 Scion at 12:30 p.m. today at the Fort Leonard Wood Morale, Welfare and Recreation Auto Craft Shop.
The “Battle of the Builds” contest will tap into the creativity, teamwork and can-do attitude of today’s military and challenge them to build a customized Scion xB.
Team “Sapper” is one of three team finalists chosen based on the individualism, originality, inspiration and creativity of their submissions, as well as their passion for automotive tuning and the results of public voting at www.battleofthebuilds.com.
The three finalists will receive use of a 2011 xB along with their build budget of $15,000. Teams will have until Oct. 5 to use their creativity, technical and mechanical training, and teamwork to transform their conceptual sketches into reality.
On Oct. 18, one of the xBs will be selected as the Grand Prize winner and announced on www.BattleoftheBuilds.com.
The entire Grand Prize winning team will be invited to the 2010 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas to showcase their modified xB in the Scion booth.

To support U.S. troops, Scion is working closely with Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps commercial sponsorship units and base Auto Skills Centers.
