Over 300 vintage outfits were donated to the Pulaski County Humane Society recently after Lillian's Dress Shop owner Song Gomez gave Gordon Rigsby of Rigsby Investment Properties the clothing.
“My wife is a member of the Humane Society and there is always a need for additional funds,” said Rigsby, whose business is landlord to locations like Hair on the Square and Café Italia. “ When I was given the clothing by Song Gomez, I got the idea to donate it to the Humane Society to help raise funds.”
The Humane Society has discussed selling the clothing on eBay but no final decision has been made at this time.
The funds raised from the sale of the vintage clothing would mostly be used for certificates for spaying and neutering pets for free for those who cannot afford it.
Most veterinarians accept the certificates as payment and then submit them to the Humane Society for reimbursement.
Humane Society President Kim Fuhr said they were excited for the donation as they are always in need of funds.
“We hope for a shelter in the future, but our main focus is spay and neuter certificates,” she said.
According to the Pulaski County Humane Society's Winter 2007 newsletter, over 148 spay-neuter certificates were given out in 2007.
The Pulaski County Humane Society has been in existence for about five years. It began through the need for spaying and neutering of animals in Pulaski County.
