A contractor has been selected to build the aquatic and community center in St. Robert.
The award goes to Bales Construction, located in Waynesville, which entered a bid of $3.45 million in January — significantly under the estimated $3.8 million to build the facilities. Nine other companies also put in bids.
Though Bales Construction was not the lowest bid submitted, it was the best— based on a set of criteria, including previous work— City Administrator Alan Clark said.
Locally, Bales has built the Waynesville Career Center, as well as Waynesville City Hall.
KC Gunite has also been selected as the pool contractor, and the company’s bid price of $1.86 million to build the indoor and outdoor pools is included in Bales’s overall bid proposal.
Once ground is broke, the company will have 365 days to complete the project. Bales’s contract is expected to be ready for approval at the next Board of Aldermen meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16.
