WAYNESVILLE — Visitors to Waynesville’s RV park could see a rate increase as the city plans to wrap up renovations after flood damages.
City Administrator Bruce Harrill said the estimated renovation cost is $85,000 and the Federal Emergency Management Agency will reimburse the city for $50,780 to bring the park to where it was before the flooding.
The city replaced the utility infrastructure due to the age and poor condition of the utility lines, according to Harrill. City employees did much of the work,  including electric, water and sewer lines, as well as a shower house.
The previous rate was $13 a day, $78 a week or $200 a month. Waynesville has looked at other campgrounds in the area and Harrill recommended the new rate be set at $20 a night, $100 a week and $250 a month for two occupants. For three people, $300 a month is recommended.
However, he said he’d like to see what the Waynesville Park Board thinks about the matter before bringing the matter before the City Council.
