The Waynesville High School JROTC Raider team this weekend competed in the Third Annual Golden Valley Raider Meet in Clinton, Mo.
There were several national powers to include the national champion Smith Cotton Black Team and the Des Moines, Iowa Red Bulls.
The Waynesville Black Team fell only three points shy of knocking off the national champions.
The Waynesville Black Team consisting of cadets Matthew Martinez, Matthew Pryor, Jacob Bautista, Steven Crabtree, Jesslyn Clark, Daniel O’dell, Chris Castro, Zach Estright, and Brandon Bowman took home six trophies.
The team won the Army Physical Fitness Test, The Raider Challenge Course and the Surprise Event, they took second in the Obstacle Course, third in the 10K run with rucksack and an overall trophy.
Raiders is an extreme sport which requires an intense amount of training and conditioning.
The Waynesville Orange Team did not win any awards but completed all events and finished as high as fourth in the Army Physical Fitness Course.
The Waynesville JROTC Raider Team will be back in action Oct. 9 in Sedalia.
