Despite the recent rains, work is progressing on the St. Robert Aquatic Center.
The Aquatic Center is expected to be finished Memorial Day weekend 2011. But before workers can start building the pool and water park, they have to construct the building. The building is expected to be done by this September, said St. Robert City Administrator Alan Clark.
It has been 69 days since the ground-breaking ceremony of the Aquatic Center. There has been a lot of rain recently that has held off the building but it is expected to be back under way as soon as possible.
The Aquatic Center gives the St. Robert  residents a water center without having to travel onto Fort Leonard Wood to go to a pool.
"This is a big deal," said Clark.
The outdoor Aquatic Center will feature items such as three lap lanes, a lazy river, a tube slide, a family slide, a relaxation pool, a shallow pool, a plunge pool, a water basketball hoop, a water volleyball net and three flotation creatures.
The indoor Aquatic Center will feature a small indoor pool. The indoor pool will be open all year long as the outdoor water arena is only open between May 31 - Sept. 7 (Memorial day and Labor Day).
"Mercy medical is making an agreement with the city to use the aquatic center for its water therapy members," said Clark.
The Aquatic Center has something for everybody every age there is a shallow pool for children. There are lap lanes for swimmers who want exercise. There is a relaxation pool that has a built in bench, where swimmers can sit and relax. There is a family slide that can fit multiple sliders, and there will also be a rock wall that will be angled over the water.
"Everyone is looking forward to it," said Clark.
