A domestic dispute on Hardwood Ln. off of Y highway Wednesday night caused a response from Pulaski County Sheriff's Department, St. Robert Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Pulaski County Emergency Response Team.
According to a press release from Pulaski County Sheriff J.B. King, the dispute was between a married couple and involved a firearm.
King reported in the press release that the wife and three children left the residence and went to a neighbor's house. The male was left inside the home.
Law enforcement decided to treat the subject inside the home as a “barricaded suspect,” according to King's press release, because the female reported that the subject made “verbal and physical threats” and there was concern that the subject may have been under the influence of prescription medication and alcohol.
Traffic on Y highway was not stopped, but King told the Daily Guide traffic on Hardwood Lane had to be diverted for the security of the area.
After two hours of being unable to make contact with the subject, King reported in his press release, officers found an unlocked rear door and decided to “immediately enter and secure the residence.”
King reported in the press release that the subject was not inside the residence, but a handgun “believed to be the weapon the suspect had in his possession” was discovered during a “search of the lawn and wooded area behind the residence.”
Officers were unable to locate the subject Wednesday night, but King reported in his press release that a patrol was left in the vicinity of the residence “until daylight.” Contact was eventually made with the subject at his home bye deputies around 8 a.m. Thursday morning.
According to the press release, the subject was transported to the VA hospital in Columbia, no arrests have been made and the report has been given to the Pulaski County Prosecutor’s office for further action. Authorities are not releasing the name of the subject at this time.
King told the Daily Guide, “I'm thankful that we were able to resolve this situation without any injuries. It had the potential for serious consequences, but due to some good work and maybe a little bit of luck the party was not in the residence when we entered and it worked out well in the end.”
