Mrs. Linda Luann Brodhacker Gash, 64, of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018 surrounded by family.

Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 16 with her memorial service following at 1:00 p.m. in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Angela Olsen officiating. Private graveside services and interment will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Linda was born on March 19, 1954 in Jefferson City, a daughter of Joseph L. and Phyllis J. (Wilkerson) Brodhacker.

She was married on July 21, 1989 in Columbia to Jim Dean Gash.

Linda was a 1972 graduate of Jefferson City High School and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1976. She continued her education at the University of Missouri and received her master’s degree in Education in 1994. She has been a longtime supporter of Mizzou and loved to represent in her black and gold.

Linda was employed as an art teacher in several schools through the central Missouri area for over 34 years. She retired from her art position at Frederick Douglass High School through the Columbia Public Schools in August 2012. She had previously taught art at Higbee High School, Bunceton High School, Renick R-5 High School and the University of Missouri. She was always passionate about teaching art and enjoyed mentoring many students through the years.

She was a member of the Missouri Art Education Association, the National Art Education Association and the Missouri State Teacher’s Association.

Linda will be remembered for her creativity, outgoing personality and for being a phenomenal mother. She was a child of the 60’s and loved the culture of Beatle’s music, her VW Bus with flowers painted on it and anything tie-dyed. She enjoyed two-step dancing with her husband and family trips to Branson to watch shows. She cherished time with her family and was so proud of her granddaughter, Quinleigh, who she considered her ray of sunshine.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Gash of Columbia; daughter, Breanna Crowder (husband Brian) of Columbia; son, Brent Gash of Titusville, Fla.; step-daughter, Casey Reeves of Liberty; brother, David Brodhacker (wife Tracy) of San Antonio; two sisters-in-law, Cindy Brodhacker and Sharon Brodhacker; granddaughter, Quinleigh Jeanne Charlotte Crowder.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Opal Wilkerson; parents, Joe and Phyllis Jeanne Brodhacker; and three brothers, Fredric Brodhacker, Jon Brodhacker, and Joseph Brodhacker.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Linda Gash Memorial Fund.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary, Jefferson City.
