WAYNESVILLE – Hazel Irene Bowling was born July 23, 1915, in Laquey.
Hazel entered heaven June 11, 2009, at the age of 93.
She was born the last of eight children to Leander Jackson Gladden and Annie Missouri King.
Hazel married Ivan Bowling on May 23, 1937, and lived in California until 1972 when they returned to Missouri to retire. They celebrated their 72nd anniversary this year.
Children: Chester Martin (Rosa) Bowling, David Ivan (Janice) Bowling, and Kathleen Nora (Stan) Gronos; seven grandchildren: Henry Ivan Bowling, Trifone Donato(Debora) Bowling, Stefano Martin (Kelly) Bowling, Jenelle Dawn Bowling, Bethany July (Shawn) South, Kristin Linnea (Steve) Taylor, Stephanie Michelle (Steve) Matthies; and 11 great grandchildren: Isabel Bowling, Nicki Bowling, Rose Bowling, Leah Irene Bowling, Aaron Schnoebelen, David South, Andrew South, McKenna Taylor, Cameron Taylor, AnnElise Matthies, Timothy Matthies.
Hazel was a true Proverbs 31 woman who was loved by her family and many friends.
A celebration of life is at 2 p.m. June 27, 2009, at Westside Baptist Church, 801 Historic Route 66, Waynesville.
