CROCKER – Cornelius Melvin Jones, of Crocker, was born on January 12, 1959, in Waynesville, a son of Cornelius Mackney and Edna Marie (Hensley) Jones. He departed this life at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2009, at his residence in Crocker. Cornelius had attained the age of 50 years, five months and eight days.
Cornelius was preceded in death by his father and three nephew: Steven McMurtrey, Jason Jones and Randy Jones.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Fox Hunting Association and had worked as a supervisor for the Independent Stave Company, Lebanon.
Those left to mourn Cornelius’s passing include his mother, Edna Jones of Dixon; three sons: Joseph Lee Jones of Burbank, Calif., Jeremy Jones Laws of Camdenton, and Dustin Jones of Laquey; three brothers: Gary Jones and his wife Janet of Sedalia, Butch Jones and his wife Jean of Crocker, Danny Jones and his wife Jennifer of Crocker; two sisters: Judy McMurtrey of Crocker and Christina Lentz of Richland; one granddaughter; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m., Saturday, June 27, 2009, in the Long Funeral Home in Crocker with a memorial service immediately following at 2 p.m.
Internment will be in the Crocker Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the donor’s choice.
