September was a busy month with many projects and events being planned and implemented.
City Council approved the final site location of the new Aquatic Facility for the City of St. Robert. Based on the evaluation of site engineering evaluations, the St. Robert Park Committee recommended to the City Council that the new facility be located on the undeveloped tract adjacent to the playground in the Municipal Park.
The Marines from the Marine Corps Detachment, Engineer Equipment Instruction Company constructed a 24 foot all-weather pedestrian bridge and installed 960 feet of walking trail timber border in Bosa Heights Park on Sept. 25. I would like to thank the commanding officer of the Marine Corps Detachment and the Marines of Engineer Equipment Instruction Company for their volunteerism and community mindedness in helping to make this neighborhood park an enjoyable place for the residents and the children.
The street improvements of Peggy Avenue and Jeffery Avenue in the Paddock Estates Subdivision have begun with the staking of the street right-of-ways. Actual work is projected to commence in mid-October with the installation of a storm water inlet box, milling and removal of the existing asphalt surface, and the construction of 1,145 feet of a new two-inch asphalt overlay.
Just a reminder that Fall Clean Up is scheduled for Oct. 14 for St. Robert residents who pay for city trash services.
Please place items by the curb by 7 a.m. Items that will be picked up include appliances, construction waste, empty paint cans, and furniture.  Items that will not be picked up include televisions, computers, microwaves, tires, yard debris, vehicle or lawn mower batteries.  Electronic and household hazardous waste can be dropped off at the Transfer Station by appointment only. I would like to invite the community to join us for “Halloween in the Park” to be held Oct. 31from 6-8 p.m. at the St. Robert Community Center.
The events will include an extended haunted hay ride and a non-haunted hay ride, costume contest, games and other activities; plus, enjoy complimentary candy, hot dogs, chips and drinks.
All activities are free and open to the community.
