To equate all conservatives to Nazi and Klu Klux Klan members is intellectually dishonest and like equating all liberals to Joseph Stalin and Pol Pot. There are extremists on both the left and right, but they don’t represent the general population of either political group. The general liberal and conservative populations do not align with nor support either extreme.
That being said, liberals reject the communist label, yet Democrat party leaders at the national level approve government intrusion into our lives, push socialism, and support nationalization of financial institutions and industry. Through the party leadership and liberal media, they promote class warfare and redistribution of wealth. In policy, they reward irresponsibility and failure while punishing productivity and success. They impede the advancement of some while promoting others less qualified. They hold themselves up as champions of equal rights while supporting arbitrary quotas and discrimination based on factors other than qualifications and experience.
Conservatives not only reject extreme organizations such as the American Nazi Party and the Klu Klux Klan, we reject the ideas they promote. As conservatives, we believe in individual liberty and personal responsibility. We believe individuals can make better decisions for themselves and their families than some bureaucrat who doesn’t know them or share their values. We believe opportunity should be available to all without regard for race or national origin. Each person should be free to succeed or fail based upon the consequences of their decisions and actions and merit of their qualifications and performance. We believe people should be allowed to enjoy the fruit of their labor and sacrifice. We believe in a free market system in which government ensures equal access, not equal results.
I doubt Nazi and Klu Klux Klan members support the Republican Party. They more likely vote for libertarian or fringe candidates. I can envision avowed communists voting for some Democrat candidates. In regards to which party welcomes Klu Klux Klan members, since when was Senator Byrd of West Virginia a Republican? He wasn’t and he isn’t. He’s a life long Democrat.
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 passed because Republicans supported it. The House Rules Committee chairman, a Democrat, tried to keep the act bottled in committee. In the Senate, Democrats filibustered the act for 57 working days in an attempt to prevent its passage. Eighty percent of Republicans voted for the final version of the act. Only 63 percent of the House Democrats and 69 percent of the Senate Democrats voted for it. John Kennedy introduced the bill and Lyndon Johnson signed the bill, but Republicans supported it while Democrats opposed it.
Republicans have historically supported equal rights. Democrats claim support while categorizing people.
