The Waynesville High School boys' basketball team beat St. Clair on Tuesday night to bring their record to 5-15 on the season.
NEWBURG – A big fourth quarter allowed the Newburg High School girls’ basketball team to come from behind and post a 71-58 Frisco League victory over Richland on Tuesday.
OWENSVILLE – The Newburg High School boys’ basketball team staged a second-half rally to beat Owensville 38-34 in non-conference play on Monday.
All school, state and national single-game scoring records were safe at the Rolla High School gym Tuesday night.
In a Ozark Conference battle, both the Rolla and Lebanon high school boys’ basketball teams struggled putting the ball in the basket on Tuesday.
However, the host Bulldogs turned up the defensive intensity to help make mini-runs in the second and third periods hold up, posting a 46-34 victory over the Lebanon Yellow Jackets.
The Waynesville High School boys’ basketball team lost to Springfield Glendale on Friday night, 78-54, and now stands at 4-15 on the season.
On a night when the Waynesville High School girls’ basketball team honored senior players Niki House and Savanna Barba, the Tigers and their seniors responded well by beating Lebanon 60-39.
Blue Springs-----The Waynesville High School wrestling team continued to assert its dominance over the competition by defeating 11 other schools at the Lydia's Lights/BSS Wrestling Tournament over the weekend. Waynesville finished first with 550 points. The nearest school to them was Lebanon with 371.
The eighth-seeded Newburg High School boys’ basketball team was no match for the superior size of the seventh-seeded Union Wildcats, falling 69-32 Friday in the seventh-place game of the 67th annual St. James Tournament.
The Wildcats include 6-7 junior Brandon Ford and 6-8 sophomore Brian Borgmann in their lineup.
The Richland High School girls’ basketball team was able to rebound from its opening-round loss to Eugene and beat Plato 53-42 Thursday in consolation action of the Richland Tournament.
Richland (11-5), didn't score a lot of points in the first quarter; in fact both teams only combined for 17 points. Richland led 10-7 after one period.
The top-seeded Richland High School boys’ basketball team started off well but then went cold and had to battle back in the second half, only to fall to fifth-seeded Belle 63-62 Thursday in the semifinals of the 50th annual Iberia Tournament.
Richland will now play in the third-place game today against sixth-seeded Vienna.
In front of the entire student body the Waynesville High School girls’ basketball team got its first conference win and got back to .500 with a 57-43 victory over Joplin on Friday afternoon at the WHS gym.
“We kind of looked like we did in Neosho,” said Tigers head coach Brittany Matlock. “We shared the ball as a team and hopefully we can just keep going with that and not take any steps back.”
The Waynesville high school wrestling team continued to dominate, as Camdenton proved to be no match, as the Tigers won 69-4.
All six state-ranked wrestlers won their matches easily.
The Dixon High School girls’ basketball team has once again made it to the finals of a tournament, beating Eugene on Wednesday night 69-57 in the semifinals of the Richland Tournament.
Dixon (10-2) will play Osage in the title game Friday. Osage beat Cuba 47-39 in the other semifinal game Wednesday.
The Waynesville high school wrestling team swept two meets on Wednesday night, first beating Ft. Zumwalt West 42-25 and then beating Holt 39-32. The two wins brings Waynesville's record to 12-6.
According to Missouriwrestling.com, Waynesville is currently ranked third in Missouri Class 4 in dual meet competition and sixth in state tournament points, with six wrestlers ranked individually.
The Newburg High School girls’ basketball team split a pair of games Monday and Tuesday.
On Tuesday the Lady Wolves dropped a non-conference game to St. Elizabeth 58-52. And on Monday Newburg posted a 81-54 Frisco League victory at Stoutland. The Lady Wolves now have a 3-11 record.
The Laquey High School girls’ basketball only has seven players on the roster and it's hard to win a basketball game when four of them foul out.
Laquey held a four-point lead with five minutes to go in the game when their players started fouling out and when that happened Licking was able to make a comeback and post a 62-57 Frisco League victory.
