Asano, Wallace advance to state title matches

Two will wrestle at 4:30 p.m. Saturday

The Waynesville Tigers will be well represented at the final day of the state wrestling tournament. Sophomore Andrew Wallace and senior Gabe Asano pushed through to Saturday's title matches with two wins each Friday.

Asano (145) knocked off Park Hill's Preston Crouse 6-5 in the semifinals to reach the title match. Crouse was 49-2 entering the match and was the top-ranked wrestler in at 145 pounds in Class 4.

Wallace (03) defeated Northwest's Justin Nahlik 7-4 in his semifinal match to move on.

Wallace and Asano are the only two Tigers still left in the competition. The other four Tigers were eliminated Thursday and Friday.

The championship round gets underway at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.
