Tigers play well in preseason battle

It may have only been a preseason jamboree, but Waynesville had some promising moments during Friday night’s action at Slaughter Field.

But the team also had a few not so promising moments.

The Tigers opened up the night with an impressive showing against Class 4 powerhouse Helias. The 12 Waynesville plays included two touchdowns and a 25-yard run from quarterback Payton Finch. The defense kept Helias out of the endzone and stopped the Crusaders in several short yardage situations.
