Seven Waynesville High School football players have been named to the 2008 Class 5 Central Missouri all-district team.
Junior quarterback Kevin Vereen completed 109 of 172 passes for 1,463 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also rushed for 578 yards on 63 carries, scoring four touchdowns.
Senior running back Del’Von Franklin rushed for 987 yards and 12 Touchdowns. He might have garnered more yardage had he not been hampered with an ankle injury that cost him some games mid-season.
Senior B.J. Ray made the team at both sides of the ball. At wide receiver he caught 46 passes for 771 yards and five Touchdowns, while at safety he made 101 tackles and had six interceptions. Ray was a Class 5 all-stater last year, as well as the 2007 Class 5 player of the year.
Senior offensive linemen Kameron Davis and Phillip Wiehe made the team as representatives of an outstanding Waynesville offensive line that allowed no sacks all year. Behind this line the Tigers rushed for a total of 2,972 yards and passed for 1,562.
Senior Carlie Williams represents the Tiger defensive line. He recorded 47 tackles, seven for a loss, and made five sacks.
Linebacker Mike Winfrey, a senior, recorded 81 tackles, 14 for a loss, and had four sacks.
