The Waynesville Middle School track and field team has some new school records-holders.

At the final track meet of the season, one eighth-grade relay team and a seventh-grade triple jumper managed to set some new school records at the meet on May 11, held at the Rolla High School track.

The 400-meter relay team of eighth-graders Daryl Savage, Dylan Newcomb, E.J. Green and Darien Turbett, set the new school record in the race with a time of 3 minutes 48.7 seconds.

All four runners will be moving on to race for Waynesville High School next year.

The other record-setter on that May 11 meet was Christian Vanderson.

Vanderson, only a seventh-grader, set the new school record in the triple jump leaping 39 feet 1 inch.

Vanderson is one of the few seventh-graders to have set a school record at the middle school—most records on the books are from eighth-graders.

Vanderson looks forward to returning next year to better his mark.

The middle school Tiger boys won the Rolla meet boys division by a narrow margin of four points.

The middle school Lady Tigers took 2nd at the meet.
