A day after the Class 2 District tournament ended with Richland and Stoutland wins, Frisco League basketball coaches released their choices for all-Frisco League basketball teams.
And two Laquey players have topped the list.
The Hornets’ Andre Hilbert, a 6-9 senior, won the boys MVP award, while 6-1 junior forward Tyler Brock, also a Hornet, won the girls MVP.
Hilbert finishes the season with an outstanding average of 20 PPG, 12.2 RPG and 5.6 BPG. He was also a 69 percent free-throw shooter and an intimidating presence inside.
Joining him on the boys first team were nine others: Stoutland junior Billy Willard, Richland junior Pat Posten, Stoutland junior Travis Miller, Newburg senior Johnny Mudd, Plato senior Andrew Hall, Laquey senior Andrew Cook, Dixon junior Damon Burrow, Licking sophomore Ben Denbow and Iberia senior Garth Minnick.
Newburg Head Coach Terry Wells was named the boys Coach of the Year.
On the girls side, Brock was named to the first team along with others: Richland junior Mallory Warren, Plato senior Karson Peterson, Licking senior Shelby Ellison, Newburg sophomore Hannah Yelton, Crocker sophomore Larra Kubinski, Stoutland senior Micah White, Richland sophomore Emily Case, Dixon freshman Hunter Yoakum and Iberia junior Hattie Duncan.
Crocker’s Nancy Ward was named Coach of the Year. Crocker went 8-0 in league play this season and reached the district final.
