Westphalia, Mo. -

WESTPHALIA— A pair of overtime contests in the Class 1 District 5 soccer tournament semifinals sent one area team home Wednesday night and allowed another to advance.

Although the No. 3 seeded Crocker Lions beat No. 2 seed Stover 2-1 on junior Erryck Uherka’s golden goal with seven minutes remaining in overtime, the No. 1 seed Fatima Comets beat No. 4 Dixon by the same 2-1 margin in double overtime, preventing an all-Frisco League district championship game.

In the evening's first semifinal, Dixon kept a 1-0 lead over the Comets almost the entire way thanks to an early goal from Dusty Allen.

But with three minutes remaining in the match, the Bulldog defense broke down and allowed the equalizer from Fatima's Tyler Allen.

And after a scoreless first overtime period it was Fatima who prevailed with the golden goal from Shane Buscher five minutes in.

In the second semifinal, third-seeded Crocker jumped on second-seeded Stover early when Teddy Zeigenbein sent a nice feed across to junior Jessie Tart in front of the goal. Tart punched it home to give the Lions the early 1-0 lead just three minutes in.

The teams settled into a trench-like defensive game after that and the score remained 1-0 Lions at halftime.

Stover tied the game with 27 minutes left on a goal by David Lor with an assist from Jesse Sack.

Crocker's Zeigenbein would get several good chances in the last 20 minutes but could never quite find the net.

Neither team could score in the half and that game also went to overtime, which was played mostly on Stover's end as Crocker took four of its nine corner kicks on the game in the extra frame.

Playing shorthanded due to junior all-conference forward A.J. Imilkowski MSHSAA-mandeated one-game suspension for recieving a red card in Monday's district game versus Belle, defender Erryck Uherka was moved to center forward for the overtime.

And Uherka, delivered, scoring his first goal of the season to win the game. He took a pass from Cody Gibson in front of the net and drove it home to give Crocker the victory with five minutes left in the first overtime.

“We escaped,” Richardson said. “It was just a hard-fought, back-and-forth game for both sides.”

Crocker freshman goalkeeper Rich Heenan had 19 saves. Crocker took 15 shots to Stover's 20, and the Lions had nine corners to Stover's four.

Crocker's record goes to 15-2, while Stover finishes their season at 16-6.

The Lions will take on the host Comets in the district championship match on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Park in Westphalia.
