Rolla is in.
We might not know much about the Class 5 playoff picture so far, but that’s one certainty. We also know that the Waynesville Tigers are officially out of playoff contention.
What we don’t know, though, is if Rolla will go to the Class 5 football playoffs as District 6 champions or as runners-up. And we also don’t know if it will be Camdenton or Lebanon joining them.
Rolla, 9-0, will win the district championship if it beats Camdenton or if the Bulldogs lose to Camdenton by less than 11 points and Lebanon beats Waynesville. Camdenton wins the district if it defeats Rolla by 13 points and if Lebanon beats Waynesville.
In the other Class 5 district involving Ozark Conference teams, District 7, no team has clinched a playoff spot yet.
Ozark had a chance to clinch a playoff berth and a district title at home against Springfield Kickapoo, but lost in the last minutes of the game.
And because District 7 has five teams, the 3-1 Tigers have to play the waiting game with a district bye in the final week of the season.
If Nixa and Kickapoo both win their games this Friday, there’s a three-way deadlock at the top of the standings. Nixa has a major (plus- 25) advantage but lost to Ozark in week 8.
This could get interesting.
Aside from Rolla, other Class 5 playoff qualifiers include Rockwood Summit, Eureka, Chaminade, Webster Groves, Parkway North, Raytown and Fort Osage.
