Several area players in 14th Pilz All-Star Games

Several area high school senior basketball players from the 2007-08 school year will be on display one last time before becoming collegiate students during the 14th annual Gerald A. Pilz & Friends Boys’ and Girls’ All-Star Games.
The Pilz All-Star Games are scheduled to be held Saturday, July 12 at the College of the Ozarks Field House at Point Lookout, located near Branson.
The girls’ game is to begin at 6 p.m. with the boys’ game to follow at 8 p.m.
Among the Waynesville area players who will be competing in the all-star games are Stoutland’s Shannon Smith, Laquey’s Jennie Boyd, Newburg’s Kaitlin DeLong and Shayla Ellzey, Rolla’s Kaitlin Bramel, Hartville’s Brittany Percival and Waynesville’s Katie Pritchard in the girls’ game and Dixon’s Jose King, Crocker’s Nathan Rigsby, Rolla’s Andy Hall, Newburg’s Dakota Herpich and Aaron Gideon, Waynesville’s Chris Rebuck and Lebanon’s Ryne Bechtel in the boys’ game.
Of those players Pritchard, Rigsby and Percival all earned Missouri all-state honors. Pritchard and Rebuck helped lead the WHS girls’ and boys’ teams respectively to the Missouri Class 5 Quarterfinals during the 2007-08 season -- the first time in school history both basketball programs advanced that far in the state playoffs in the same season.
As a junior Percival, a signee at Missouri S&T, led the Hartville girls’ basketball team to the Missouri Class 2 state championship.
In addition, in the girls’ all-star game there will be a mother-daughter combination, as former Rolla High School girls’ basketball head coach Darlene Bramel will be a coach on the West Team. Two of the players on that squad will be her daughter, Rolla’s Kaitlin Bramel, as well as Pritchard. Darlene coached Kaitlin and Pritchard at the youth AAU level.
