Gov. Jay Nixon issued the following statement today on the eve of the national and Missouri observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The governor will be one of the featured speakers at an interfaith service to honor Dr. King at Powell Symphony Hall in St. Louis at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 18.
“Dr. King’s life was one that reminds us that change is possible and that seemingly insurmountable obstacles can be overcome through perseverance. As we honor the legacy of Dr. King this year, I encourage Missourians to participate in the King National Day of Service as a way to continue making this a better and stronger country," Nixon said.
