For years, Amazonís private-label goods have offered Pike Street home gear, Denali tools, Pinzon kitchen gadgets, Strathwood outdoor furniture, AmazonBasics electronics and more. Clothing is Amazonís next move.

While you may not equate the online giant with fashion, over the past year Amazon quietly launched a number of in-house clothing brands. In addition to a childís line called Scout + Ro, womenís label Society New York and menís dress shirt line Buttoned Down, its latest push is into athleisure, or activewear.

The clothing section at Amazon.com is now bigger than its electronics catalogue. The number of clothing and accessory items offered on Amazon.com soared 91 percent in the last year to over 30 million items, according to analysts at the investment bank R.W. Baird. Research analyst Cowen and Company projects that Amazon could pass Macyís as the No. 1 seller of clothing in the United States by next year.
