Commuters using Sverdrup Gate (North gate) can expect delays beginning October 3, due to construction at the access point.
The contractor will be closing one lane at a time; reducing the number of operating lanes to three. When possible, traffic will be routed thru the commercial truck lane but generally traffic will be reduced to three lanes.
As part of this project an active barrier system will be installed on the inbound and outbound lanes of Missouri Avenue near the intersection with Indiana Avenue which will reduce traffic to one lane at times on Missouri.
Commuters should plan accordingly for delays and detours to normal traffic flow. This construction has been authorized and funded for infrastructure upgrades that include, improved lighting, and other equipment essential to meet the 2009 Army standards for Access Control Points.
