Marshal Cliffty Yokum brings complaint to Commissioners.

Dixon City Marshal Cliffty Yoakum appeared before the Pulaski County Commission last week to state his case as to why Pulaski County Sheriff’s deputies should not be in Dixon and to ask for a contract guaranteeing a certain amount of prisoners be held in Dixon's city jail at all times.

A couple of weekends ago Pulaski County deputies were in Dixon, and, according to Yoakum, they were chasing kids off parking lots, making stops within the city limits and he was fielding phone calls from residents complaining about the PCSD being in Dixon.

Waynesville, Crocker and Richland's Police Chiefs say they have no problem with PCSD being in their towns.

Yoakum compared PCSD to Maries County by saying that when they (Maries County) enter Dixon, they come by the police department to let them know that they are there and to ask Dixon for help in picking up whoever they are there to get.

According to statistics that Sheriff King provided, Dixon has only made two drug arrests over the past few years and he says that Dixon clearly has a drug problem and that they need all the help that they can get to eradicate the problem.

At Thursday’s Pulaski County Commission meeting, the commission will have a new contract for Dixon involving the jail. Alderman Davis said he is going to try attend so that he can talk with Sheriff King and sort this out.
