Republicans and Democrats are at odds over the budget, and a government shutdown is possible if the sides can’t reach a deal by this week. President Barack Obama and House Speaker John Boehner are trying to reach a deal, but so far there appears to be no progress, with Republicans calling for deeper cuts than Democrats are willing to give.
